Friends, welcome to Jessica Hickerson Photography! What an amazing thing to finally be able to say those words…
I started my photography business when I was a 19 year old college student. At the time I was living in a tiny apartment with a first dog Jackson and three roommates. I had moved to Arizona to be with my boyfriend and didn’t feel excited about the move or my major, and was too overwhelmed to think about the ‘future.’ People would ask me what I wanted to do when I got older and while my answer was always different (or something along the lines of “I have no freaking idea”) I secretly dreamed of being a wedding photographer. I wanted to be the person standing at the front of the aisle, capturing a couple’s first kiss and that expression of oh my God we just got married! Then one day I decided to just go for it. It was as simple as that. I had a camera and family friends willing to be my guinea pigs and, with a little help from Facebook, Jessica M. Wood Photography was born.
The roommates and life in Arizona I mentioned before didn’t stick, but the boyfriend sure did. He has been my biggest supporter, cheerleader, and ice-cream-buyer-to-fix-a-bad-day since we were teenagers. In fact, I have known since I was 17 years old that I would someday marry Sam Hickerson.
On August 30, 2015 that dream came true. For three days we celebrated #camphickerson on Palomar Mountain with 120 of our closest friends and family. I’m sure I will be blogging MUCH more about our wedding, but for now I will fast-foward to September 1st. The day I was back to work and realizing I was a whole new person- I am someone’s wife for goodness sake- and “Jessica M. Wood Photography” was a thing of the past. For the next week I worked tirelessly to rebrand and rebuild my business under my new married name, and today I am thrilled to introduce Jessica Hickerson Photography!
