I just have to say, this was one of those times I felt incredibly honored to be the human behind a camera capturing someone else’s story.

A couple weeks ago, the Wade family invited me to photograph their last moments in their home that has slowly been destroyed by the Portuguese bend land movement. We spent time with their many animals, played in the backyard, admired spaces she remembers from her childhood when her grandparents owned the home, they showed me the garden planted from their wedding arrangements, we ran through the field that kept their kids sane (and dirty) during Covid, talked to neighbors who were anxious for an update, and walked through their home with flashlights to see the irreparable damage from the land movement.

I know the Wade family will carry this magic they’ve created into their next home. But for now I’m grateful we were able to spend time together to remember what this place meant to them. (And thank you Vanessa for allowing me to share some of these photos because this experience touched my heart so much!) ✨

@sunandseacollective is my love letter to the South Bay community and has been a passion project for FOUR YEARS now - our first event was December 2020 in a backyard. It started because I wanted the chance to sell @esplanadebrand in my hometown and pop up markets didn’t exist here yet! I struggled to bring together 12 local businesses that day, and now have a list of 800+ vendors, creatives, artists and makers from the South Bay and beyond who want to pop up with us monthly. We get to work with beautiful venues like @thepoint_sb and @thepromenadepv and have customers who make a point to come to every single market.

I’m so grateful for the wild rollercoaster we’ve been on over the last 4 years and the HUNDREDS of local businesses we have been able to uplift and support in that time. I don’t know what’s in store for 2025 yet but I’m always up for the ride! 🤙
